Three police officers from two different police departments have been shot in an area southeast of Atlanta. Two were deputies in Henry County, and the third was a Locust Grove police officer. According to sources, the officer from Locust Grove has died. The two deputies from Henry County were wounded and taken to nearby hospitals. The alleged gunman is also dead.
The suspect was being served with an arrest warrant at his house for a failure to appear in court charge. According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s press conference Friday afternoon, it was released that one of the Henry County deputies is listed in fair condition. He was hit by a bullet in his vest. The other deputy was hit approximately two inches below his vest and he is listed as being in critical condition. According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, dozens of police officers are at the hospital.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Henry Co Sheriff’s deputies and Locust Grove officer who were shot this morning in Henry County,” the Gwinnett County Police Department said in a tweet. “We hope they survive their injuries and make a full recovery.”
