A Georgia police officer who was killed in a shooting that wounded two sheriff’s deputies had a young child and a baby on the way.
Locust Grove Mayor Robert Price said Officer Chase Maddox, 26, was the city officer who died Friday. Mayor Price said the officer’s wife is pregnant and expecting their second child.
Maddox had been with the Locust Grove, GA police department since he was 22, a recent police academy graduate. The police chief and the chaplain had spoken with Maddox’s wife.
The mayor urged people to keep the young family in their thoughts.
“We just can’t believe this happened,” he said.
The two deputies had serious injuries. The suspect was killed at the scene inside a home on St. Francis Court near the Tanger Outlet off I-75.
