Greg Appleton has been head baseball coach at Columbus State for 22 years and his 772 victories are the most in Cougar history.

Columbus State University head baseball coach Greg Appleton has announced the signing of 10 high school and junior college players as part of the team’s 2019 signing class.

The newest Cougars include four standouts from local high school programs. The newcomers signed during the fall signing period and will join CSU for the 2019-20 academic year. They will become part of a team that finished 48-15 and made it all the way to the NCAA Division II national championships last spring.

“We are very pleased with our fall signing class,” Appleton said. “We believe we have a group of talented players that should have the opportunity to contribute immediately.”

Appleton is the winningest coach in the history of the CSU baseball program with a record of 772-410 in 22 seasons at the helm. He guided the Cougars to a national title in 2002 and to second place finishes in 2007 and 2018.
