Atlanta is competing with 20 other cities to be the North American headquarters for Amazon. The company who is expected to invest billions of dollars to the metro area along with bringing up to 50,000 jobs.
According to The Associated Press (AP), architects met with Amazon officials on Thursday proposing a $5 billion dollar office complex in downtown Atlanta. The architect said it “would seem to fit Amazon’s criteria for a new headquarters.”
Christopher Sciarrone, who works for a Los Angeles-based development firm on a conceptual plan for Amazon did not mention if the company was moving to Atlanta or not. Sciarrone added that he was not sure of the site was being pitched to Amazon executives.
According to an AP article update, the Atlanta-based project would consist of 9.3 million square feet (87 million square meters) of potential office space. That’s more than three times the amount in New York City’s Empire State Building.
